Fixing Tarnish

For those of you who have purchased my pieces and want a recap on the quickest way to clean silver, here goes:

Take a glass casserole dish.

Line it with tin foil, shiny side up.

Drop 3-4 tbsp of baking soda on the tin foil.

Pour 2 cups of boiling hot water in the dish.

Drop in your sterling piece. Watch the tarnish transfer to the tin foil.

Remove your piece carefully with chopsticks or a fork ('cos it's hot!) and rinse with clean water.

Easy and effective.

For those that have purchased sterling links on a knotted pearl piece, you can dangle the silver links into this solution to clean.

Pearls are porous and care should be taken NOT to place them into this solution, or the color and lustre will fade quickly.
Also, perfumes should be put on BEFORE adorning yourself with pearls.

The best way to care for pearls is to keep them in a soft cloth pouch (an old, clean piece of clothing will do) and a similar soft cloth can be used to gently wipe pearls after wearing.
